Three Suspects, Including Minor, Detained on Train Over Tiger Shroff Shooting

KOTA, Rajasthan: Three suspects, including a minor, have been detained in connection with the shooting at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai after police intercepted them aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express in Kota, Rajasthan, on Monday. Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said the suspects were taken off the train when it arrived at Kota railway station at 10:17 a.m. Acting on information provided by Mumbai Police, she formed several teams, including the district special team, to search the train. The three suspects were found in a general coach during an operation that lasted about 15 minutes.

The two adult suspects were identified as Ritik, alias Roshan, from Begusarai in Bihar, and Rehan from Sonipat in Haryana. The identity of the minor has not been disclosed. Preliminary questioning indicated that Rehan was in contact with Anil Pandit, whom police described as an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post, although the authenticity of the post has not been verified.

According to Gautam, the suspects told investigators they boarded the train after carrying out the shooting. They allegedly planned to travel by bus from Jaipur to Delhi before crossing into Nepal. No weapon was recovered from them. The suspects were initially questioned at the Kota Superintendent of Police’s office. A Mumbai Police team has arrived in Kota, and the three are expected to be handed over to the Mumbai authorities. They remain in detention and will be formally arrested after Mumbai Police take custody, Gautam said.

The shooting occurred on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area, where three rounds were reportedly fired at Shroff’s car. The actor escaped unharmed, but his driver and another person sustained injuries. A video showing one of the alleged attackers firing at the vehicle has circulated widely on social media. Mumbai Police registered an attempted-murder case and subsequently transferred the investigation to its Crime Branch.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he had spoken with Shroff and assured him that the incident would be taken seriously. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the 36-year-old actor at his Bandra residence late Sunday, inquired about his health and assured his family of full security. Shinde also called for renewed action against criminal networks, referring to past crackdowns on gangs in the 1990s. He said, “It will be tit for tat, bullets for bullets.”

Shroff, born Jai Hemant Shroff on March 2, 1990, is one of Bollywood’s prominent action stars. A fifth-degree black belt holder in Taekwondo, he made his film debut with Heropanti in 2014 and later gained popularity through films including Baaghi, Baaghi 2 and War.
